Apply for CGA Membership

Important:

If you are a current Fellow, Associate Member, General Member or Student Member, please do not complete this form for membership renewals. Instead, log in to your CGA online account, and go to “Membership Renewals” in the MEMBERS AREA. If you are a former member without an active account, please contact us at info@canadiangemmological.com for assistance with renewing your membership.

The Application Process

1. Submit Your Application

Complete the Application Form below or if you prefer to email/mail your application, you can download the pdf form HERE.

Note: If you are applying to be an Associate Member or General Member, you will also need to upload credentials and/or professional references. Click the button below to learn more about these additional requirements.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

2. Application Review & Approval

Your application and professional references will be reviewed by the CGA Board of Directors. You will be notified of your approval status or if additional documentation is required to complete the process.

3. Activate Your Member Profile

Upon approval, you will receive an email containing a link to pay annual membership dues. Once payment is received, CGA will issue instructions for setting up your online member profile—unlocking full access to your CGA membership benefits.

Associate Member Applications

Upload .jpeg images or pdfs of:

  • Your Credential Certificate from one of these recognized organizations:
    • FGA – Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A)
    • FGAA – Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Australia
    • GG-GIA – Graduate Gemologist, Gemological Institute of America
    • CG-AGS – Certified Gemmologist, American Gem Society
    • FGG – Deutsche Gemmologische Gesellschaft
    • AG-AIGS – Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences
    • GAHK – The Gemmological Association of Hong Kong
  • ONE or more references by a FCGmA in good standing (download reference form here)
  • TWO additional references from other people in the Gem or Jewellery Trade (download reference form here)
