After a refreshing summer break, we’re excited to resume our monthly meetings.

Please note that there has been a change in the scheduled program for this month’s meeting. Instead of Duncan Parker, we are pleased to welcome our long time member and AGTA Cutting Edge Award Winner Mr. Soosai Prosper, who will be presenting on Opals from Australia, Ethiopia and Mexico and hand carving rough opals. While the program has shifted, this change offers a wonderful opportunity to hear fresh insights from an accomplished voice in the field. We appreciate your understanding regarding this adjustment and are confident that the session will provide valuable insights and an engaging discussion.

Our Speaker Soosai Prosper is a gemmologist and master valuer with an extensive background in both science and jewellery arts. Holding a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Madras, as well as advanced diplomas in Gemmology (F.C.Gm.A., CGA, Toronto), Diamond Grading (IGI), and Jewellery Studies (CJA GJ), Soosai brings a deep academic and practical foundation to the field.

Internationally recognized for contributions to gem education, Soosai played a key role in the World Bank’s Training the Trainers Program, helping establish two lapidary schools in Madagascar and Nigeria. His expertise has been further acknowledged through prestigious awards, including the Canadian Jewellers Association JETS Award and First Place in the American Gem Trade Association Cutting Edge Award.
