This 5-hour course delves into the enchanting beauty of pearls—their subtle glow, timeless appeal, and natural mystique. As June’s birthstone and one of the ocean’s most treasured gifts, pearls offer a fascinating gateway into gemmology and jewellery artistry.
Syllabus:
- The nature and properties of pearls
- Mastering the jeweller’s loupe for pearl inspection
- Differentiating natural, cultured, and imitation pearls
- Identifying treatments and enhancements
- Proper pearl care and storage
- Pre-purchase consideration
Requirements:
- 10x triplet jeweller’s loupe
- gemmological tweezers
- students may bring their own or purchase from the CGA
